Before your treatment

Ingredients
to pause beforehand.

Active ingredients can make the skin more reactive during treatment. Unless Eden advises otherwise, stop the following before your appointment:

  • Retinoids (retinol, retinal, tretinoin, adapalene): 5 to 7 days before peels, PRX and microneedling; 3 days before facials
  • Exfoliating acids (AHAs such as glycolic and lactic, BHAs such as salicylic): 3 to 5 days before
  • Benzoyl peroxide and strong vitamin C: 3 days before
  • Waxing, threading, depilatory creams and facial scrubs: 5 to 7 days before
  • Sunbeds and unprotected sun exposure: 2 weeks before; arrive without a tan or sunburn

If you use prescribed skincare or oral medicines such as isotretinoin, tell Eden before booking. Never stop a prescribed medicine without advice from your prescriber.

Contraindications

When we may
wait or adapt.

Your health history is reviewed at every consultation. Some treatments may be postponed or adapted if you have:

  • Pregnancy or breastfeeding (advanced treatments, peels and microneedling)
  • Isotretinoin (Roaccutane) within the last 6 to 12 months
  • Active cold sores, infection, open wounds, or active eczema or psoriasis in the area
  • Recent injectables, laser or surgery in the treatment area (usually wait 2 to 4 weeks)
  • Keloid scarring, uncontrolled diabetes, autoimmune conditions, blood-clotting disorders or anticoagulant medication
  • A pacemaker or metal implants (for some energy-based technologies)

If you are unsure, contact Eden before booking. A consultation is the safest place to start.

After your treatment

Products to use,
products to avoid.

What should I use afterwards?
  • A gentle, fragrance-free cleanser and lukewarm water
  • A soothing, barrier-supporting moisturiser and hydrating serums such as hyaluronic acid
  • Broad-spectrum SPF 30 to 50 every day, reapplied when outdoors
  • Any post-treatment products recommended by Eden
What should I avoid, and for how long?
  • Make-up: 24 hours after microneedling, 12 to 24 hours after peels
  • Retinoids, acids, scrubs and strong vitamin C: 5 to 7 days, or until the skin has fully settled
  • Heat, saunas, steam rooms, swimming and intense exercise: 48 hours
  • Direct sun and sunbeds: at least 2 weeks
  • Picking or pulling at peeling skin: always let it shed naturally
What is normal after treatment?

Mild redness, warmth, tightness or light flaking can be normal for a few hours to a few days, depending on the treatment. Contact Eden if you notice anything that worries you, such as swelling, blistering or signs of infection.
